Welcome to my book blog.  My annual goal is to read 100 books per year and share my love of reading with my two daughters.

The Legend series just keeps getting better.  More conspiracy, assassination plots, the beginning stages of a few love triangles… these characters are begging to have their story told as the next suspenseful dystopian fantasy trilogy.  Since I am several years late to the Legend party, I honestly can’t believe there isn’t anything pre-production, yet.  When a production company finally does bring Legend to Hollywood, there are some amazing characters to cast:  June, the whip-smart, courageous, overachiever with a knack for finding trouble; Day, the robin-hood-like street-kid, individual against the world; Tess, a maturing young girl who is outgrowing her role as Day’s mere sidekick; Anden, the dashing boy born into power with visions of fixing corruption from within.

In this book, June feels torn between Anden versus Day, her long-standing patriotism and upbringing versus her grief from losing her family to a tyrannical Republic who will stop at nothing to keep its secrets hidden.  We also learn more about “the Colonies,” the mysterious eastern half of the former United States.  Instead of the Republic’s military-controlled state, the Colonies are a government built on corporate power.  Governmental functions, like police, are entirely privatized.

Marie Lu’s writing is suspenseful, tender, and a perfect fit for this genre.  I absolutely cannot wait to finish this series.
